Job description

  • As a Senior Contract & Legal Manager you are the main point of contact for all briefings, issues, risks, processes and procedures related to the contracts. You work directly for the Managing Director of the region and report to the President of the Oil, Gas & Power Division.

  • Your strong communication skills enable you to develop close working relationships with the project team, in particular the Senior Project Manager, the Financial, Quality and Legal Experts. You maintain a positive business relationship with the client’s contract management team. As a proactive manager, you anticipate possible conflicts/issues with the client by proposing solutions.

  • One of your main responsibilities is to ensure that the key operational responsible people are fully aware of their contractual obligations and the commercial impacts of their actions. You conduct contract briefings, respond to contractual investigations and assist proactively in the resolution of issues.

  • You are involved in the change control process of the projects. Your responsibilities may include chairing the periodical change meeting and advising on the contractual implications of proposed changes. You ensure that any contractual reviews that result from change requests are drafted and approved by the client.

  • You establish and maintain the contractual compliance processes and procedures, identifying non-compliance issues and supporting their resolution. You see to it that all legal documents are correctly maintained and updated. You evaluate, build and maintain a network of law firms whom you collaborate with for specific assignments or issues.

  • You monitor, manage and/or mitigate contractual risks. This involves advising the Project Management on risks, impacts, mitigating actions.

  • Working closely together with the finance department, you understand the key commercial drivers and assist and advise on areas that can lead to improved cash flow and reduced working capital.

  • In addition to the major contracts you manage, you are the main point of contact for negotiating sub-contracts and additional contractual arrangements with the client.

 

Profile

  • You have a Master degree in Law, with a specialization in International and/or Contract Law.

  • During your 5 to 10 years of experience in a contract management or similar position (ideally in a multinational company active in the construction or energy sector) you have gained a strong affinity with project management.

  • You are an experienced and business minded negotiator with excellent analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Communication is one of your strong points: you have a thorough knowledge of the legal vocabulary in English and you communicate easily and efficiently with clients and colleagues.

  • Being a team player, you are able to work independently and duly manage your workload and priorities.

  • Your responsibility includes short term travelling.
